Woven Wonders

The intent of Woven Wonders was to empower Milwaukee’s women to feel confident on any budget. It would also improve their mental health. The company consists of a styling service, an app, and a web course. These components teach women how to dress for their unique physical appearance. Volunteer stylists and coaches kept the prices from being too high. This was important for those who were struggling with their income.

Providing these tools helps women see themselves in a positive light, as confirmed by user testing. Testers mentioned loving their new outfits from the stylists. They also felt better when people saw them out in public. Others say that having a mentor to confide in resulted in increased happiness.

I created Woven Wonders because I am always looking for ways to put together new looks without breaking the bank. I know that not everyone has the benefits or time to go rummage through stores to find what works for them. Thus, I designed an experience where clients have resources to make shopping easier. My belief is that Woven Wonders would promote a sense of worthiness in women’s lives.

There were many considerations put into the design of this service. I found a way to draw in clients without overwhelming them by creating an easy-to-use program. My services welcomed everyone and didn't make them feel as though they wouldn’t be the right fit. I selected a soft red-orange color palette to hint at femininity but not come across as childish. Red is often associated with confidence, strength, and excitement. These were aspects the company reflected.

Branding

The brand mark was an abstract symbol inspired by hashtags. Hashtags form communities on social media. My intent was that clients would be able to connect with each other. They would be able to empower one another through their newfound confidence. The word mark features a bold, serif typeface. It emulates the strength and maturity fostered by Woven Wonders.

Brand Guidelines

In any well designed brand, it’s important to follow a specific set of guidelines. This will keep everything feel consistent and cohesive. The imagery was designed to feel connected and work well with my color palette, which is why I went with grayscale. By making these choices, I designed a company that was compelling and kept the appeal of the services provided.
