Sanguine Sunday

Sanguine Sunday is a sparkling water brand targeted towards environmentalists. The inspiration came from my appreciation of nature's beauty and spring days. I wanted to create a drink that was the highlight of flourishing spring and summer days. To stand out in my competition, I chose to go with all the floral flavors. This had not been done before in the market. Some sparkling water brands, such as La Croix, had flowers, but that wasn’t their entire identity. Other companies, like Fentimans, had botanical aspects to their drinks. They also included a mixture of lemonade and ale. Due to this, their beverages are not considered sparkling water.

With Sanguine Sunday, there was a chance to step into unknown territory. So, I designed a beverage that would turn people’s heads. When researching my target audience, I discovered they wanted to protect the environment. Preventing waste is necessary, too. Therefore, I considered ways to make the product reusable. This resulted in me implementing glass bottles and tote bags into the design.

Label Designs

I wanted to create a product that promoted the necessity of being around positive people. I also sought to show that it is okay to take time to soak in the wonders of life on your own. There’s nothing wrong with being independent. This thought process influenced much of my decision-making. For the brand mark, I felt pairing a script with a sans serif font was a way to encapsulate the aura of the beverage. This method enabled me to keep legibility in mind. The color utilized was a deep green pulled from the leaves. It provided contrast against the light blue background inspired by clear skies.

Single Beverage

I selected a vintage oil bottle with intricate details. It stood out among the cans used for sparkling water and was reusable. I envisioned the customers finishing their drinks and then using the glass bottle as a vase or for other beverages like water.

Multi-Pack

In relation to my picnic theme, I constructed a bag within the multipack design. This allowed the buyer to carry the drinks from one location to the next. The crochet bag could be detached or kept within the clear vinyl bag. This kept reusability at the forefront of the design process for the multipack.

Instagram Campaign

When curating the Instagram campaign, I set up a stylized photoshoot. This was to show how the product could look in its intended atmosphere. I pushed this further through the use of golden hour lighting and hues. Designing the elements of Sanguine Sunday helped me gain knowledge about packaging. The project showed me the importance of designing with a target audience in mind.
